Membership / Volunteer Opportunities
Club Socials are back! The operation of the range was a tremendous undertaking for the club almost two years ago and we’ve met and overcome some interesting challenges during that time. While work continues to improve our ability to support the range we’ve recently been able to turn our attention to some fun stuff for members.
The first member shoot in May was a 300-point open class shoot won by Barbara with a score of 297 with 14 x-rings. The June shoot was rifles and July, inspired by the History Channel show “Top Shot”, the shoot was an interesting challenge of reducing target size. Members grouped up for teams and team members shared the same gun and shot in rotation until all the targets were hit. Two teams shot in the first round and three teams shot in the second round. Members who were able to attend had a great time! Thank you to Paul for providing the guns and ammo for the July shoot and organizing the club shoots so far.
We’re taking suggestions for future events. If you have an idea and would like to be the member-host for one of the club socials (or even if you just want to pitch an idea and hope someone else is willing to be the master of ceremonies) we want to hear it. Catch one of the board or committee members and get that idea out there!
Some changes are coming. If you missed the last business meeting there was a good discussion of membership and volunteer recruiting and support. Come back soon and check out the updated membership/volunteer application.
Are you a member already but are missing or need an update/replacement on your membership card? Email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with the request and we’ll get a membership card to you.
Please wear your membership card when checking in to shoot at the range. While members still shoot for free as we grow our volunteer base we can’t expect all the new volunteers to know who’s a member. Wearing your badge also gives anyone new at the range someone to talk about information and opportunities to become a member of the Buckeye Sportsman Club. Don’t forget you can always refer questions to the membership email!
We want to take this opportunity to thank those members who continue to serve as range safety officers, work in the retail store, support special functions and serve on the board. Without the combined efforts of these individuals we would all be missing the one thing we all enjoy – a place to shoot.”
